STAN was established in February 2018 at the initiative of the Foundation for Armenian Science & Technology with a vision to bring together prominent Diaspora Armenians to join their financial capital, network and entrepreneurial talent and help engraving best tech entrepreneurship knowledge in Armenia.
Within 5 years, STAN grew from a group of 18 founding angels into a group of around 43 angels from 6 countries who made over 800 000 USD in investments in 17 startups.
Being operated by FAST as an informal group of angel investors for 5 years, STAN has accumulated expertise in startup sourcing, deal structuring, maintaining the relations with angels, startup ecosystem and a broader community of supporters in Diaspora and Worldwide.

Igor Khalatian

Igor is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of successful expertise in high-tech sector globally.Igor established a co-browsing and screen-sharing technology startup LiveLOOK in 2007 that was acquired by Oracle in 2014. Later, he assumed the role of Vice President of Development at Oracle. In the mid of 2023, Igor founded the world’s first AI-based dating service IRIS Dating.He has a master's degree from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, a doctorate in computer science from the USSR Academy of Sciences, and a Ph.D. from the Bell Labs research facility in the US. Dr. Khalatian is the author of 13 US patents. He is also an official member of the Forbes Technology Council.Igor Khalatian, together with a group of 18 additional angels, established STAN. Starting from 2018, he has held a position as one of the co-chairs within the organization. Igor's influence has been crucial in molding the development and influence of the Armenian startup ecosystem.
Ruben Arutyunyan

Ruben's diverse background includes being the founder and CEO of HENDERSON Fashion Group, a prominent men's business and leisure outfit retailer with an extensive presence across more than 50 cities globally.He graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic University with a mechanical engineering degree in 1989. Additionally, he has an MBA from Moscow's Higher School of Commerce. Between 2017 and 2019, he presided over the board of trustees of the Ayb Educational Foundation. He has supported the UWC Dilijan educational project and has served as chairman of the Ayb School Board of Trustees. He has also been a member of the Aznavour Foundation Board of Trustees since 2019.Ruben Arutyunyan is one of the initiators of creating the Science & Technology Angels Network in 2018. He has been the founding angels who were with STAN since its inception in 2018. Over the course of 5 years, he was the Co-Chair of the STAN. Ruben has played a pivotal role in shaping the growth and impact of technology-focused startups in the region.

Alexandre has deep expertise in public policy, communications and corporate strategy and has advised the senior leadership of many high-profile organizations in managing through strategic policy issues as well as regulatory, financial and business challenges.Some of his clients have included Uber, Expedia Group, Intuit, Coca-Cola, BlackRock Metals, Altasciences, Syneos, HEXO, Rio Tinto, ArcelorMittal, Shoppers Drug Mart and GlaxoSmithKline.Prior to joining Teneo, Alexandre was a partner at HATLEY Strategy Advisors which was acquired by Teneo in 2020. He led the government affairs group advising clients on policy issues both provincially in Québec and federally in Ottawa.Previously, Alexandre worked for Canada’s Foreign Affairs and Immigration Ministers in Ottawa. Alexandre received his bachelor’s degree (B.A. Arts) at McGill University and his master’s in business (M.Sc. Suzanna Shamakhyan

Suzanna Shamakhyan, is an ex-officio board member of STAN appointed by FAST. She is a versatile leader dedicated to education, network-building, and youth empowerment. As Vice-President of Strategic Programming at the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), she helps develop Armenia's science and innovation ecosystem, driving initiatives to modernize education and advance research. With extensive experience in leadership roles over the last 12 years, she spearheads impactful projects, creating a multiplying impact.Additionally, Suzanna is an Associate Professor at the American University of Armenia, contributing to students' academic development by combining practical knowledge with a global perspective. Previously, as the Head of International Cooperation at Russian-Armenian University, she facilitated partnerships with institutions from 40 countries, implementing 25 major projects that fostered global collaboration. As the driving force behind building the university's internationalization strategy and structures, she established the department from the ground up.Beyond her professional work, Suzanna is actively involved in volunteerism, supporting causes ranging from human rights to educational opportunities for indigenous communities. Her dedication to creating impact led her to establish the European Youth Parliament (EYP) in Armenia. As the Founding President of EYP Armenia in 2012, she created a platform for over 10,000 young Armenians to become active participants in society, fostering dialogue, leadership skills, and civic responsibility.

Armen Orujyan, Ph.D., is the Founding CEO of the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). FAST is a nonprofit organization that helps foster an ecosystem in Armenia that drives scientific advancement and technological innovation in the country and beyond. Under Armen’s leadership, FAST has launched science-intensive acceleration programs inclusive of startup incubators, and venture builders focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biotechnology, a Creative Campus supporting young scientists and early-stage startups, educational programs providing broad knowledge in AI as well as comprehensive training in Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning and other critical Data Science fields, a Fellowship for the top 10% of all PhDs in Armenia in STEM, numerous scientific grants and the first Science and Technology Angels Network in Armenia. The impact has reached over 6,000 students, scientists, and entrepreneurs.Armen is also the founder and former Chairman of Athgo Corporation, one of the world’s leading entrepreneurship platforms in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, the UN Department of Public Information, and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Athgo has advanced innovation ecosystems in Europe and Africa and established recurring Global Innovation Forums at the UN and the World Bank headquarters. Armen’s pioneering initiatives have provided financial, intellectual, and network capacities to nearly 10,000 young innovators, entrepreneurs, and students from over 600 universities in 80 countries.
Artur Alaverdyan

Artur Alaverdyan is the Founder of SOLARON - Solar Panel Manufacturer, and Co-Founder of FAST. He is the owner and chairman of ProfHolod, the largest manufacturer, the leader of the EURASEC market in its segment. He is also founder of Solaron Solar Panel Manufacturer. Founder, ex-chairman and board member of the professional Association NAPPAN, a member of the Managing Committee of PU Europe Association (Brussel). Artur Alaverdyan was granted the degree and qualification of the engineer-physicist at the National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI, Moscow). The professional activity of the scientist began at the Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (LPI RAS, Moscow, Russia). He has 20 years of successful business activity in Russia. The serial entrepreneur has several successful “exits”. Holds an ExMBA degree in strategic management (Moscow). He also studied in Paris and Amsterdam. He actively invests in the Armenian economy in the fields of recreational development and production of renewable energy sources (“Park Resort Agveran” and “SolarOn”). He is also engaged in public activities as a Member of the “Ayb” Club, is the chairman of the FAST and a member of the advisory council of the Repat Armenia Foundation. His current key interests are focused on alternative energy, impact investing, and innovation.
Arthur Tovmasyan

Artur Tovmasian is a serial entrepreneur, CEO, and founder of International Food Technologies (IFT), owner of restaurant chains Vkusnolubov, which was presented at Sochi Olympic Games in 2014; Grand Prix Formula 1 Sochi 2014; Blinerie, recognized as the Best new concept at Mapic 2016, Cannes, France; Royal-Kebab, quick service restaurant, serving Middle Eastern cuisine; as well as Pancs, an outlet specialized in crafted pancakes, crepes, and artisan coffee. Starting his professional activity in 2002 as a marketing specialist at Rostselmash, one of the leading plants in Rostov region, Russia, in September 2004 Artur became one of the founders and the chief executive officer in Vkusnolubov, which has grown into a wide chain of cafes and retail outlets of fast and healthy food with more than 1000 employees, in 13 years of operation. Artur’s new projects are targeted at the markets in the European Union and the UK and include e'CLR, a modern eclair bar; as well as Avobar, a boutique restaurant serving avocado-based dishes in London. Artur is a graduate of the Rostov State University of Economics, holding degrees in Customs Affairs (2001) and in World Economics (2004). Artur’s professional engagements are highly appreciated by regional authorities in Rostov. He has received numerous letters of gratitude, certificates, diplomas, and medals in recognition of his professional achievements. Artur is an active participant in charity and social events.
Igor Avanesyan

Igor Avanesyan is involved in minor business activities, participating in several projects. He has started a career in the private business sector in 1989, embarking on projects in banking, leasing, oil industry, petrochemicals, and construction. From 1984 to 1989 Igor was authorized representative of Soyuzgazexport in the Federal Republic of Germany (exports of natural gas from the USSR). Prior to that, from 1976 to 1984, he served at Soyuzgazexport, All-Union Foreign Trade Association under the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade. In 1975 Igor graduated the Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry (being receiver of the Lenin Scholarship during his studies in recognition of academic excellence), and the Higher School of Finance and Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in 2003. Igor has also taken postgraduate studies at the Academy of Foreign Trade.
Ruben Vardanyan

Ruben Vardanyan is a social entrepreneur, impact investor, and venture philanthropist. A recognized expert on the global economy, entrepreneurship and education, he provides strategic consulting through his membership of boards of directors, advisory boards and trusteeships of commercial companies, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and public and professional bodies. Among them are Aznavour Foundation, business schools in Russia and Brazil, a major Armenian bank (Ameriabank) and Russia’s auto major (SOLLERS). A prominent financier, Ruben is known both for his commercial projects (investment companies Troika Dialog and Vardanyan, Broitman and Partners) as well as his deep-reaching philanthropic programs, such as the first UWC college in Eastern Europe (Dilijan, Armenia) and the Tatev Revival Project, part of which includes the construction of the world’s longest cableway leading to an ancient monastery. Together with their partners, Ruben and his family have invested about 600 million USD in projects in Armenia, developing a commercial approach that relies on involving blended financing to find solutions to social problems. They have also raised over 500 million USD to finance the first private business school in Russia – a pioneering institution both in terms of scale and in its collaborative nature. In 2015, Ruben co-founded another global project, the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, on behalf of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide and in gratitude to their saviors. He spends a significant amount of his time on projects related to the development and professionalization of charity infrastructure in Russia (Philanthropy Infrastructure – PHILIN) and the questions of wealth and legacy curation (Phoenix Advisors). With support from Ruben, Troika Dialog, SKOLKOVO business school, and several charitable foundations, classics of world business literature were published in Russia. Since 2016 he has chaired the judging panel of the PwC “Business Book of the Year in Russia” Award.
Ruben Vardanyan

Ruben Vardanyan is an innovative and results-driven leader with more than a decade of experience in building hi-tech companies. He is a founder and chief executive officer of Joomag, a US-based SaaS company that provides integrated solutions for creating interactive digital publications. Under Ruben’s guidance, the company has developed a series of revolutionary products and has grown into an industry leader. He has extensive experience working with SMBs as well as large enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies. He is an angel investor, advisor and serves as a board member for various tech startups. Prior to Joomag's experience, Ruben was the founding CEO of mobile app development company Magy. The company produced several best-sellers and award-winning apps. In addition to being a master strategist, Ruben is an aficionado of all aspects of computer programming, security, databases, software, protocols, and web servers. In fact, he co-authored principles of C++ and authored programming in Macromedia Flash Action Script. Along with his executive education from Harvard Business School, Ruben holds a PhD in computer science, and maintains active involvement in workshops, and training; he is a guest speaker at several international conferences.
Vahan Vardanyan

Vahan Vardanyan is currently Founder and CEO of Kerpak, Member Partner in Da Vinci Capital and Memeber of the Board of Directors at Fast Bank. He has been a venture partner at Buran Venture Capital, a Central and Eastern European fund, and a co-founder of SpaceIn – a global co-working technology platform. Prior to that Vahan was a partner at McKinsey’s digital practice in Russia and CIS. From 2004 to 2013 Vahan served as managing director, chief information officer, member of the Executive board at Moscow Exchange MICEX-RTS and managing director, global chief information officer at Renaissance Capital. Vahan is an entrepreneur and digital strategist with over 20 years of experience in managing large-scale information technology, organizational development, and business transformation programs in financial services, telecommunications, and the public sector in CIS, Europe, Middle East, and the US. Vahan holds an MBA degree from Bentley University, Massachusetts; he is a graduate (with honors) of Armenian State Engineering University’s School of computer science. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of Harvard Business School.

Co-Founder and CEO of BluIP, a Las Vegas based global, Unified Hosted Communication Service provider, with Offices in Las Vegas, NV, Los Angeles, CA, Denver CO, Manila Philippines, and Yerevan Armenia. He has over 25 years of experience in Strategy, Growth Hacking, making IT profit center for large multination global organizations. BluIP customers include RLH, Netflix, Marriott, Hilton, AT&T and other major national brands.
Prior to BluIP, Armen built and sold large India based software development companies, and had various executive roles from CTO, to President at both private and public companies. Other experience includes several years collaborating with Deloitte Consulting Group working with companies such as Microsoft, Callaway Golf, and Nestle. Armen is an active Angel investor and advisor to a number of US and Armenia based startups.

Art Ghazaryan is an MIT Sloan Fellow, serial entrepreneur, founder & CEO of a Boston-based boutique venture studio Ympakt. Art has remarkable entrepreneurial experience, having founded and managed four successful startups with a strong presence in Armenia in various fields, including image processing, music education, biotech, aerial analytics, social ventures, and photography.In addition to his venture-building experience, Art has contributed to international development programs as a World Bank and UNDP manager. Artur Galstian is a visionary, serial entrepreneur, and startup investor. He was born in Yerevan and moved to Los Angeles when he was 14. After High school, he attended college for a year and then dropped out to follow his strong interest in entrepreneurship. His first business was an attorney service business, followed by seasonal stores at the malls. He also ventured to Pawn and Entertainment Industries. He has invested in real estate in California, Nevada, and Armenia for the last ten years. In recent years, he has also been involved in the short-term financing of real estate properties. Galstian finds fulfillment in charity work, and he is currently supporting Hye Association's Hye Manuk project.

Gevork Sarkisyan is a founder and president of Innova Partners, which now holds an exclusive franchise for KidZania Russia, France, and the US and an exclusive franchise for DreamPlay park in Russia. Gevork has been running IT and entertainment companies for over 10 years.
Prior to founding Innova Partners, he was the CEO of Innova, an online entertainment company. Innova was first established as a pioneer of digital entertainment in Russia and CIS starting as a publisher of massively multiplayer online games, then, adding on a video distribution service in partnerships with Hollywood majors and leading TV manufacturers. In 2016 Innova entered a location-based entertainment business with opening the first edutainment family concept, KidZania, in Moscow. Soon after the opening, Innova was granted an exclusive franchise for operating KidZanias in Russia, France, Canada, and the US. After that, a holding company, Innova Partners, was formed to develop KidZania parks in other countries.
Apart from KidZania business, Gevork is also a board member at Detsky Mir Group, which is the largest children’s goods retailer in Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as a board member at Rambler Media Group, one of the biggest Russian web portals and search engines Gevork is an advocate of information technologies and innovations. He keeps his bonds with the IT field he has come out. He is a co-founder of Must App, an application that helps you make a list of movies and TV shows to watch.

Currently, Gugo is the co-founder and executive partner at NetGenix, Los Angeles based company with a mission to guide and support startups with the US and global market entry.

Ruben is a startup ecosystem enthusiast with broad experience as a startup founder, head of an angel network, and an executive in large software development companies. He is active in social initiatives, running a telegram channel about the Armenian startup ecosystem (3N - https://t.me/threenstartups) and teaching at the American University of Armenia.Ruben has been the CEO of the Science & Technology Angels Network (STAN) since its establishment in July 2023. Before that, Ruben had been running STAN activities since September 2021, when it was one of the programs of FAST, as FAST’s entrepreneurial programs lead.Ruben was the co-founder & CEO of Himnark – one of Armenia’s first SaaS B2B platforms targeting Armenian small and medium enterprises. Himnark has been one of the first startups to receive angel investment from international angels (in 2018). Since then, it has collaborated with over 200 customers in Armenia and over 2000 employees in total.Previously, Ruben held various positions in Instigate Group – being the group CFO and CEO of 2 of the spin-off companies.Ruben graduated from the Armenian State University of Economics, Operations Research and Mathematical Modeling department.
